This can lead to loneliness, guilt, dishonesty, anxiety, headaches, vision issues, weight loss or gain, pain in the back, insomnia, etc.
A severe long-term effect of the symptoms can be similar to brain damage. The brain of the kid shrinks and can lose tissue in the insula, striatum and frontal lobe. This can affect the organization or planning, suppressions of some socially unacceptable impulse and the capacity to develop empathy or compassion.
Some tips for the parents whose kids have Screen dependency disorder:
- For children younger than eighteen months– avoid usage of screen medium other than video- chatting.
- For children two to five years– limit the screen usage to one hour a day of high- quality programmes.
- For children six and older– put consistent limits on the time that the kid spends using media
- Set some ground rules early and enforce them by making a media- free time together
