Ants are small, but their sense of smell is really strong. They love foods which are sugary. Make sure your food on the countertops and cupboards is protected.
Even though there is an empty can of soda in your kitchen, they will sense it. Throw the packaging of everything you eat in the trash.
Eliminate Ants From Your Home:

- Cinnamon
Ants despise the scent cinnamon releases.
You Need:
- ½ a teaspoon of cinnamon essential oil
- 1 cup of water
- Cinnamon cloves (if you want to)
- Cotton balls or a piece of cloth
Instructions:
Combine the water with the essential oil and stir well. Use the solution on the cotton ball or cloth and wipe the areas where you saw ants. Repeat this once every day!
Put cinnamon cloves near your windows and ants won’t even come near them!
- Vinegar
Vinegar is another thing ants despise to smell. It’s something we all have at home and it won’t cost us much to buy it!
You Need:
- Distilled vinegar
- Water
- Several drops of lemon essential oil
- Spray bottle
Instructions:
Combine the water and the vinegar in 1:1 ration inside the spray bottle. The lemon oil should be added in the end. Shake it well. Spray the mixture wherever you saw ants. Shake the bottle whenever you want to use it. Repeat the procedure once every day.
- Borax
Borax is an ingredient that attracts ants and then kills them. Prepare some food with Borax inside and that’s it!
You Need:
- 1 teaspoon of Borax
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of water
- 2 tablespoons of peanut butter
- some sugar
- A plastic container that has a lid
- A sharp object
Instructions:
Combine the water, peanut butter, Borax and sugar in the combiner. Stir it well. Cover the container using the lid. Use the sharp object to poke some holes. You can also make holes on the sides of the container.
The ants will enter it and leave it easily.
- Peppermint
The strong smell of peppermint is another thing ants hate. When they sense it, they can’t even detect other food smells!
Take a spray bottle filled with 1 cup of water. Apply 10 drops of peppermint oil, Shake the bottle well. Use the mixture to spray it wherever there are ants. You can repeat the procedure 2 times a day.
You can also use dried peppermint to sprinkle it on your garbage areas, doors or entries.
Another thing you can do is to plant some peppermint in your garden and kitchen! They will smell great and the ants will be gone!
