It’s true that a mother’s love knows no age or boundaries and this mother sure proved it. Despite being 98 years old herself, she still hasn’t stopped looking after her son, even though he’s 80 himself and lives in a nursing home. Her love went completely viral as she decided to move to the nursing home her son lived to be with him and take care of him in his old age.
If there’s one love that transcends everything, if there’s one love that’s unconditional and stronger than everything else, it’s the love of a mother towards her child. We can move out, grow old, have our own families but our mothers will never stop loving us or taking care of us. There’s nothing they won’t do for us because their love is eternal.
The story of Ada Keating (98) is simply heartwarming and no one can stay indifferent after witnessing the true love she has for her son. She decided to stay by her son’s side even when they got older and needed each other the most. She’s just grateful that she gets to spend more time with her son and she never hesitated one bit before the move.
Ada’s son, Tom Keating, who is 80 years old, moved to the Liverpool based nursing home, Moss View, as he felt he couldn’t take care of himself as well as he used to, he just needed some more help and knew that a nursing home was the right decision. But his mother, Ada, just couldn’t live without him, so the next year she moved to the nursing home as well. Now the mother and son get to spend more time together and enjoy all the things they used to, playing board games, watching TV and laughing it out with the staff and other residents.
The Keatings were always very close
Ada had 3 other children in addition to Tom, but Tom is her oldest. The other 3 were girls, Margi, Janet and Barbara, who sadly passed away when she was just 13. Before retiring, Ada worked as a nurse in the Mill Road Hospital, while Tom worked as a painter and decorator. He never married and stayed to live with his mother his whole live, which is why they have this special bond. They’ve always been close and spending their whole life together, just the two of them, made them even closer.
Their family member frequently come to the home to visit them and they’re just happy to see them so happy in their old age. They’re just happy the two get to spend more time together and that they’re well looked after in the home so that they don’t have to worry about them.
The nursing home manager, Philip Daniels, is quite happy himself that the mother and son were reunited at the nursing home and got the chance to be together again. He added that he was touched to see the unbreakable bond these two have, the pure love and unconditional support. The entire nursing home staff just loves them so much and they’re happy they can accommodate their needs. It’s just so rare to see mothers and children live in the same nursing home, which is what makes this story even more special. Seeing the two seniors, well in their 80ties and 90ties, is just heartwarming.
